Iceland Trip 17

Whilst being shown around my partners home of Iceland, I decided to capture a few videos of our time there and edit them together. It's a truly beautiful place of total extremes and well worth the visit. We spent a short time in Reykjavik before taking a road trip North to the snæfellsnes peninsula and then returning to see the golden circle.
Unfortunately, the weather was pretty changeable so wasn't ideal for filming but a good memento of the trip. I return to Reykjavik at the end of the month to work for the summer so hope to share with you some more experiences.

Update and Inprogress

Have had a few projects in the pipeline recently which have kept me pretty busy of late.

I also took a short trip to Iceland to explore the area before I move there later in the month for a summer position. Hence the lack of updates recently so here's some news on what I've been up to.

The first project I wanted to share was winning a competition to create a series logos that will be used in an educational publication, coming out next year. The company Inprogress, are challenging traditional teaching in schools and wanted icons that represented alternative creative roles for educators.

These were the final icons decided upon for each title.

Postcards From Bristol

Design Identity For A Freelance Writer

Was recently tasked with creating a unique identity for an up and coming writer friend.
The design was kept clear and professional so as to not distract from the writing but also invoke a sense mystery and intrigue that would make you want to further explore and discover the content.

To achieve this, the logo was created drawing on inspiration from clubs and secret organisation insignia, adding a sense of theatre to the design by combining pen nibs and inky squid graphics.

Bournemouth Cityscape

I've spent a fair bit of time in the beach town of Bournemouth recently and finally got round to creating a new print. From left to right the features are, The Highcliff Hotel, Undercliff Promenade, Cliff Lifts, The church of St Peter (Resting place of Mary Shelley), The Square, Bournemouth Baloon, The Lower Garden and Bourne river, The Oceanarium, Pavillion, Russell Cotes Museum and Pier.

A Cracking Trailer for Early Man

Being a big Aardman nerd i'm really stoked for the release of a new stop motion film Early Man next year!  Check out the new trailer and behold the awesome art style and very British sense of humour. Particularly enjoying those noses.

International Women's Day

A small graphic that was created for 'International Women's Day'.

Wood Cut Style Hare

My partners Mum recently wrote a collection of children's poems featuring animals. As a surprise, I created this colourful Hare illustration in a wood cut effect style, to accompany them.

'Blows Cobwebs From Blog'

So it's been more than a while since I last posted anything here, the blog has taken a bit of a back seat lately in favour of other projects. I have however been busy creating a slightly more user friendly website that I wanted to share with you,

I'm making it my goal to also keep up updating this blog, but it will probably take on a more informal and behind the scenes roll.

Thanks for viewing, G
